Welcome

The Henley on Thames and District Talking Newspaper Association provides an audio version of the Henley Standard newspaper every week. The service is free of charge to anyone registered blind or partially sighted living within the area covered by the paper.

We also send free of charge to anyone who has moved away but likes to keep in touch with Henley, and to anyone who, for reasons other than sight impairment cannot read the paper themselves.

You can use this website to find out about receiving the Talking News, referring a friend, relative or client to us, or volunteering with us.

About us

The Association was founded in 1982 as an initiative by the Lions Club of Henley, supported by other organisations within the town. It is entirely run by volunteers and funded by grants and donations, which we gratefully receive. We are also grateful for the support of the Henley Standard who provide a specially prepared copy of the newspaper every week, of Townlands Hospital where our recordings take place, and of the Henley College who acts as our postbox.

About our readings

Not all our listeners live in Henley itself, so we include news from the surrounding villages each week. We also include the family announcements and Thought for the Week. Although all the readings and recordings are done by amateurs, we make every effort to achieve the best possible result for our listeners.

Henley & District Talking Newspaper is a registered charity and our work is entirely dependent on volunteers, donations and grants. If you’d like to help us continue our work, consider volunteering, or if you can afford to, please donate.
