Readers
We are always interested to hear from people who would like to become readers. We look for people who have a clear voice and possibly some experience in the performing arts or public speaking.
Our recordings take place on Thursday evenings in the Maurice Tate Room at Townlands Hospital. Readers should arrive by 6:45pm to start recording at 7pm, and will normally finish by 8:15. If all four readers and the controller prefer an earlier start time, this is agreed between them. Readers commit to 2 recording sessions over a 4-month period. If a reader is unable to read on their allocated date we ask that they contact other readers on the rota and arrange to swap dates. Please also let the relevant technical controller know, so that they know whom to expect.
Technical Controllers
No prior technical experience is needed as full training will be given. The controller is responsible for recording the readings, copying the master recording onto memory sticks and posting these to listeners in the protective envelopes.
